Product Manager, Inverters

GENERAL SUMMARY: The Product Manager, Inverters is responsible for specifying, providing and managing a profitable portfolio of PV inverter solutions capable of meeting the requirements of the full range of Conergy's internal and external customers. These solutions may include proprietary internal products and selected products from external vendors to keep Conergy at the competitive forefront of the PV distribution, sales and PV project installation arenas.

REPORTING TO: Sr. Product Portfolio Manager

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Product Development

  • ·Determines, specifies and documents product requirements as required for product portfolio and transmits these requirements to appropriate entities inside Conergy and to outside vendors.
  • ·Works with internal resources and external vendor organizations to provide necessaryadditions to the product portfolio
  • ·Develops business plans supporting product additions to or deletions from the Product Portfolio.

2. Product Training

  • ·Coordinates internal and external training resources to provide product sales training to internal Conergy personnel as well as to external clients.
  • ·Coordinates internal and external training resources to provide product technical training to internal Conergy personnel as well as to external clients.
  • ·Develops necessary product sales and technical training documentation and presentations.

3. Product Marketing and Sales Support

  • ·Works with Conergy Marketing to provide trade show support, web site content and updates, sales support (competitive intelligence, competitive analyses, competitive comparisons, feature-benefit analyses), promotional items including ads and ad copy, brochures, white papers, etc.
  • ·Works with Technical Sales personnel to develop technical analyses and recommendations; indirect technical sales support.

4. Business Management

  • ·The Product Manager is responsible for providing appropriate product line financial analyses and results reporting.
  • ·The Product Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of product and product line cost, pricing and margin management.
  • ·Working with Purchasing, the Product Manager participates in and is ultimately responsible, where appropriate, for vendor relations and vendor management including but not limited to vendor product qualification, channel validation and vendor support of Conergy sales efforts.

ORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPS: The Product Manager, Inverters reports to the Product Portfolio Manager. In the course of his/her duties, the Product Manager, Inverters will be expected to interact with Conergy Marketing, Conergy Sales and Sales personnel (including Regional Sales Managers, Inside Sales and Technical Sales personnel), Purchasing and appropriate external vendor personnel.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1) Knowledge, skills & abilities:

  • ·Candidates for the position of Product Manager, Inverters must have in-depth knowledge of PV power generation, inverter technologies, topologies and applications across the inverter spectrum including DC optimization.
  • ·Candidates for the position will have solid technical knowledge of PV system electronics including PV modules, inverter sizing and operation, system interconnection and PV system operation and monitoring
  • ·Candidates should have strong working knowledge of electrical codes, UL, IEC, CEC, FSEC and other certifications as it they apply to PV electronics and systems.
  • ·Knowledge of inverter componentry, manufacturing and testing processes is desirable and will be considered a strong plus.
  • ·Knowledge of monitoring technology, techniques and monitoring systems is highly desirable.
  • ·Project management knowledge and experience is highly desirable.

2) Minimum educational level:

  • ·Candidates must have a 4-year Bachelor's degree in a technical field.

3) Minimum experience:

  • ·Must have experience in PV system design, including inverter specification, sizing, installation and connection.
  • ·Additional experience with and/or knowledge of PV system performance monitoring, operation and maintenance is strongly preferred.

4) Physical Requirements:

  • ·Must be capable of business-related travel in support of the job requirements.
