PowerPlus: Durable Solar Panels
Conergy’s PowerPlus solar panels use robust, high-quality materials and advanced engineering to increase safety and durability. The PowerPlus solar panels are resistant to long-term chemical and environmental exposure, including ammonia in a livestock environment, salty sea air in coastal regions or other corrosive environments. This has been independently confirmed by the DLG and TUV inspection agencies. In climate testing, the Conergy PowerPlus solar panels can withstand temperature extremes from -40°F to +185°F.
The PowerPlus solar panel proprietary frame combined with a sealed junction box built to our specifications allows us to offer warranted mounting on both long and short sides of the frame. This increases system design and installation flexibility.
Buckle-Resistant Frame
-
The proprietary frame of PowerPlus solar panels is manufactured by the Conergy Mounting Systems group. It is designed to be both strong and light and features a cavity-free design. This ensures it won’t weaken or break over time due to freezing and thawing of water which could cause loss of performance or affect the safe operation of the module. PowerPlus solar panels exceed industry environmental requirements and can stand up to 205 miles per hour winds or 9 – 16 feet of heavy snow
-
The construction of the PowerPlus solar panels is designed to ensure secure electrical bonding of the frame because the frame is always screwed not crimped.
Structured Solar Glass
-
While other solar panels use glass coating or films that wear or breakdown over time, the PowerPlus solar panel has structured glass to maximize lifetime durability.
-
The PowerPlus solar panel’s structured glass can withstand a hit by a 2 inch hail ball traveling at 80 mph. This greatly exceeds testing requirements set for the industry.
Fully-Sealed and Potted Junction Box
The junction box on PowerPlus solar panels was designed in a partnership between Conergy and Huber+Suhner. Our engineers used the experience Conergy had with numerous solar panel brands that we gained as a system installer and wholesaler to improve the design and durability of the junction box which is frequently the point of failure in a solar module.
-
The Conergy PowerPlus junction box is fully-sealed and potted to prevent water penetration and ensure high levels of safety and durability.
-
The solar panel junction box design features cooling channels in order to improve lifetime electrical performance and yield of the solar module.
-
All of the wires of the PowerPlus solar panels are soldered for maximum safety and electrical performance.
-
The sealed junction box combined with our high strength frame allows us to offer warranted installation on both the short and long side of the solar panel.
High-Quality Cables
The PowerPlus solar panels are equipped with insulated Huber+Suher RADOX® solar panel cables that provide up to 32 times the life expectancy of other PV cable insulation materials. The PV wire of the PowerPlus solar panels is:
-
UL 4703 compliant
-
Designed to lower electrical resistance to increase connector life and lifetime solar energy yield.
-
Heat and light resistant to prevent melting and UV degradation
-
Formulated so that it does not shrink, deform or degrade under continuous load or bending
-
Highly resistant to damage caused by animal intrusion
Solar Panels Certification:
-
The PowerPlus solar panels are certified to IEC/EN 61215 ed.2 standards for solar panel quality, durability and reliability, to IEC/EN 61730 standards for electrical and mechanical safety and fully certified to UL 1703 standards.
-
For even greater assurance of their reliability, the PowerPlus solar Panels have been tested and certified in compliance with optional IEC 61701 standards for salt and mist corrosion.
